Congratulations, you have thought of creating a UKPA Polocrosse Club!
There are many benefits by becoming an offical UKPA polorosse club, here are some listed below:
What do you get?
- The opportunity to participate under your club name in UKPA tournaments
- Entry of your club into the UKPA leagues
- A public liability insurance policy to cover your club events
- Access to a network of the other clubs of the Association
- A copy of the UKPA tournament pack and handbook
- Each club gets a voice at the club council meeting held each year
Becoming a UKPA club is straight forward, all you need to do is the following:
- Choose your club name
- Choose your club colours - make sure you don't double up on club colours, see the other UKPA club colours by clicking here
- Select a person in your club to be your chair person and another member to be the secretary
- Each club needs to select a Child Protection Officer, this is a UKPA requirment
- You may also want to select a committee in your club with members such as a treasurer, club development officer.
- You may want to open a club bank account, to collect membership fees. It is worth to mention that most UKPA tournaments require entry fees to be paid in full with a club cheque before the tournament weekend. -for UKPA Nationals clubs have to pay a deposit for all teams entering.
- Complete the Club Registration Form sending your club payment
- You may want to advertise your club by creating a club website, which we can link from the UKPA site
- Email the webmaster, Caroline Kelly with details about your club such as location, name, committee details, colours so she can add to the clubs page
- If you plan to run a tournament, please look at the tournament information pack this has instructions of how to run a tournament and all the things you have to incorporate to run a safe tournament.
- Also make sure you check the current tournaments page for dates free in the year, it can be difficult to attain a good attendance by running two UKPA tournaments on the same weekend and this is not advisable. If in doubt check with the UKPA Secretary by email
- For coaches in your local area contact the Coaching Director at coaching@ukpolocrosse.co.uk
Good luck and we look forward to seeing you at tournaments this year!
