Polocrosse Demonstration at YOUR HORSE LIVE!
Demonstrations performed at the Your Horse
Live Show on the weekend of the 14th and 15th
were a great success. The demo team consisted
of Jason Webb, Islay Young, James Robertson,
Sarah Dernie, Rhi Lee Jones, Joel Sics and Tom
Beney. They performed two 45 minute demos which
were very well received by a large crowd.
The UKPA also had a stand on site in order for
people to find out more about the sport and
they said there was a great deal of interest
in the sport on both days. Iain Heaton said
"The demos went really well and hopefully
we have educated a few thousand more people
about the sport. I have to say a massive thank
you to all the guys who did the demo and also
to Penny Webb for master minding it all.

Message
from the BEF
BHIC has suggested an alternative to the proposed
new body for animal health to the Responsibility
and Cost Sharing Advisory Group. The details
can be found at the link below.
http://www.bhic.co.uk/about/pressarchive/news.php?34
In addition there has been considerable coverage
of this matter in the national equestrian and
non equestrian media recently, largely thanks
to the actions of our political lobbying company
PLMR. There are currently 4,500 signatures on
the No 10 petition to rethink the horse tax
- this needs to be nearer 30,000 - we encourage
all members of BEF member bodies to sign it
by visiting www.rethinkthehorsetax.org

Statement from the UKPA - Child Protection
“When you are looking
for instructors/therapists/natural horse consultants
it is essential that you check credentials
– such as qualifications and other ‘claims’.
It is not unreasonable to ask for references
from other clients, proof of insurance cover,
CRB check docs, etc.
Just because someone has a website,
or makes claims of competence, doesn’t
mean they are reputable.
If they are reputable they will have
no issues with your reasonable requests.
Also, wherever possible, it is perhaps
wise not to be left in a one-to-one situation,
and certainly not leave children alone.”

Notice
of UKPA EGM
This e-mail is to give you notice
of an EGM to be held on 25 October 2009 at 1
pm at the Arden Clubhouse to ratify the new
UKPA constitution and new executive structure,
as voted for at last year's AGM. We encourage
clubs to have a meeting ahead of the EGM to
discuss any implications of the new constitution,
which is attached. The significant change in
this new constitution is the new executive structure
and this is shown in the diagrams at the back
of the new constitution. Read
the new UKPA Construction here
When ratified, the old constitution
will be dissolved and job descriptions for the
new posts will be issued immediately.
The AGM will be held on 29 November
at the Henley-in-Arden Memorial Hall.

Dear
All,
At last, the new 'New Derby Polocrosse Helmets'
will be available for delivery to you within
two weeks. Certainly, in time for the Pony Club
Championships on the 15th and 16th and I may
get them here before the Midlands Tournament.
As these helmets are in demand all over the
world, my first order has been restricted to
25 large helmets (56-59cm). I hope to get a
second order accepted as soon after that as
possible.
If you need a helmet please order IMMEDIATELY
off the site or give me a call as I know there
are a lot of you waiting for them and I
will only be able to respond on a first come
first served basis.
Now for the bad news, the new face guards which
are designed to fit the AS/NZS 3838:2006 Certified
helmets (only), will only arrive about 3
weeks later, so I will be supplying the helmet
to you as soon as they arrive and will only
be able to send the face guards a month or so
later. The manufacturer does not recommend the
use of the old face guards on these new helmets.
So to avoid this problem in the future, the
new face guard will carry the NEW DERBY logo,
so only these should be used on the new NEW
DERBY HELMETS. The new face guards will be lighter
too.
Finally, due to the unfavorable exchange rate
with Australia, the helmet price has had to
go up from £90 to £95.
IMPORTANT
A lot of people are wanting these helmets so
order NOW if you want one from the first
batch of 25.
Hope you are having a great season.

Social
Grade being introduced...
Dear All
As some of you may know I have
been talking to various people regarding a 'Social
Grade' in Polocrosse. The idea being to have
a place where you can play without getting too
battered, less competition and have a bit of
fun.
Ashfields have kindly offered to host the first
of these at their next tournament on the 18/19
July.
So why not dust off your stick or you may know
someone who used to play and email me ASAP with
the details as time is rather tight. I will
liaise with Ashfields on numbers. If it works
it could be used for maybe green or younger
players etc I do feel this could be another
way to help and grow our sport for people to
play at a safer fun level.
Any idea's or thoughts on this will be gladly
listened to. please email me at: graham.dench@ntlworld.com
Many Thanks

Important
info about the Arden Tournament:
Dear Clubs
Could you please inform your members
that due to the high number of entries for
this weekend camping space will be at a
premium. Please camp and pen with consideration
to others. People who do not do so
may be asked to reduce or re organise their
penning and camping.
Overflow camping from the main
camping field will be on the slope below the
B or second pitch as usual. If you
will be turning up late in the evening we recommend
that you go straight to the B pitch field.
The entrance is opposite Henley Engineering
steel works on Edge Lane.
Alternative camping for those
that do not wish to camp with horses has been
cordoned off on the area to the far side of
the A pitch nearest Edge Lane.
Many thanks for your cooperation.
